Following on from the very successful annual 'Back To The Sixties' shows since 2008, we now stage a  'fab' afternoon as we said back in the day! Enjoy the amazing sounds from Toast - one of the finest local groups who are celebrating their 10th anniversary although these talented musicians have been performing with several outfits for many years. Featuring Beau whose falsetto voice has been heard on many cover hits of the Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Rubettes and other classic tracks since 1964! We first met in that same year as part of the Abdo-Men which saw Beau on rhythm guitar before later turning to bass with a succession of top groups. Then in 1965 Beau and I joined the local Eastleigh group - The Unforgiven who were resident at the old Junction Hotel- now the site of the Eastleigh station car park.  I then hooked up with drummer Derek Edmond as part of the 1966 Earth Angels so it's good to be sharing a stage again

Beau later spent many years with Brownhills Stamp Duty fronted by the legendary Rick Brown from Ricky and the Hi-lites. BSD recorded at Abbey Road Studios releasing a cover version of the Beatles' 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' and other tracks.   Richie Hayes (keys) alongside drummer Derek with Graham Cowling on lead guitar- all sharing vocals so providing the full experience.

I will be singing many great Sixties hits to get you joining in and dancing away - whatever takes your fancy!  Interspersed with comedy with plenty of local gags plus jogging the memories of the local dance halls that many will remember- if of a certain age. Taking you back to the days of the Royal Pier, Banister Ballroom, Guildhall, Top Rank Suite, Empire Hall Totton, Imperial Ballroom Eastleigh, Marlands Hall and many more. You can twist, shake, stomp, twitch or just do the hand jive if you are taking a breather when sitting back down.

I also handle a few requests so let me know any of your favourite singers, groups or songs on the day - I cannot guarantee having all on board but Toast have a great repertoire anyway. Your first record ever bought? When you played your vinyl 45s and LPs on the old Dansette record player or just listened to Radio Luxembourg on the transistor radio underneath the bedclothes?  Bring back memories of hearing the jukebox in the Checkpoint Cafe by the Bargate or at the Kasbah Coffee Bar on London Road.  Feel free to share your own memories on the day on the mike.

Better still - come dressed in your own Sixties gear with prizes for best outfits. Kaftans with beads, bells and flowers in your hair (if any left!) Maybe Afghan coats smelling of Patchouli Oil waving joss-sticks?  Plus if you were a Mod - a Rocker or a Mocker?  No punch-ups in the car park please!  Please note the new controlled parking regulations below.

BE THERE- OR BE SQUARE!

The first part of a life in show-business spanning some sixty six years. From the days of Fifties rock'n'roll through the Sixties and early Seventies as a singer with pop groups around the South of England. This book gives a personal insight into the ever-changing music scene of the Golden Years, with a taste of modern history centred on the author's home town of Southampton England. Hilarious stories will make you laugh in between reading about the first waves of pop groups that kick-started what lay ahead over the next few decades.
